Stupor Bowl 2014 set for Feb. 1

The Dixon Kiwanis team emerged victorious at last year's Stupor Bowl trivia contest, which raised more than $8,700 for the Dixon Public School District Foundation. The Kiwanis team beat the 2012 champs, the Harrison Family, 250-95, in the final match.

DIXON – A day before the Super Bowl, get your trivia on by participating in Stupor Bowl 2014.

The annual fundraiser for the Dixon Public Schools Foundation will be Feb. 1 at Reagan Middle School. The date and the event’s logo were unveiled in a news release Tuesday.

Up to 32 teams will compete. The first four rounds begin at 9:15 a.m. and will be played by all teams competing simultaneously in the cafeteria. Each team deliberates, then writes down its answers on a score sheet.

The four top-scoring teams advance to single-elimination playoffs, starting at 1:30 p.m., using buzzer systems, tossup questions, and four-part teamwork questions. The championship match starts at 3 p.m.

Entry deadline is Jan. 24. Fees for nonprofit organizations and family teams is $150 per team. Each corporate and business teams pays a $300 fee. Each team has up to 10 members.
