The “Plains Melody” draft horse team pencil drawing by Jerry Scheffler of Ashton is a sample of the original art on display at the new Scheffler Art & Gallery in downtown Franklin Grove.

A new art gallery has opened in downtown Franklin Grove, just in time for the Christmas season.

Jerry Scheffler, long noted throughout northern Illinois for pencil drawings in black and white and color work in acrylic art, has opened Scheffler Art & Gallery.

The new art center, Scheffler’s first gallery in his 25-year career, is located in the Rooney Building, 107 Elm St.

The new gallery will feature displays of Scheffler’s art, and also provide a working center to fulfill commissions for patron’s special requests.

Hours will be 11 a.m. to 4 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday

The Rooney Building was recently chosen as a location for a commemorative mural by the Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition. The Rooney Building is a companion to the renowned H.I. Lincoln Building as a Farming Heritage, Inc. historic preservation project.

A cross-section of Scheffler’s art is on display at the gallery or available for review at jerryschefflerarts.com.
