Duchesses, Warrior bowlers pick up NIB-12 victories
Birthday girl leads Dixon
Margaret Thomas celebrated her 16th birthday in style at Plum Hollow on Tuesday afternoon, rolling the high series and game to lead the Dixon Duchesses to a 3,210-2,797 victory over the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers.
Thomas' 629 series included a 267 game that saw her record seven straight strikes to start out, leading Dixon to eight of the 10 conference points at stake in the meet.
Emily Quaco was right behind Thomas with a 628 series, and Jenna Longan added a 552 series.
Sterling 2,652, Kaneland 2,511: Veterans Destinee Howard and Magan Tintori led the Golden Warriors to eight out of 10 NIB-12 points in a victory at Blackhawk Lanes.
Howard rolled a 598 series that included a 234 high game, while Tintori recovered from a rough second game for a 230 finale and a 543 series in Sterling's first dual of the season.
Christian Life 3,041, Oregon 2,816: The Hawks lost their NIBC opener to the defending champs at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford.
Abigail Scheidecker led Oregon (2-1, 0-1) with a 512 series, and Karissa Corbin added a 505 series.
LaSalle-Peru 3,560, Dixon 3,543: A strong third game nearly lifted the Dukes to a NIB-12 victory at Plum Hollow.
Dixon defeated the Cavaliers by 195 pins in the final game, but L-P's victories in the other two games were too much to overcome.
Lucas Bonnette rolled a 705 series with high games of 249 and 240, and Keenan Longan added a 637 series and matched Bonnette with three 200+ games. Ryan Dixon added a 620 series for the Dukes.
Moline 55, Sterling 12: The Golden Warriors won four decisions in a nonconference loss in the Quad Cities.
Isaac Figueroa won 5-2 at 126 pounds, Zack Depuy won 10-5 at 132, Andrew Garcia won 6-4 at 145 and Nick Terronez won 5-2 at 152 for Sterling.
Fulton drops two at home: The Steamers lost 54-15 to Sherrard and 40-30 to St. Bede in a triangular in Fulton.
Zach Jenkins won by pin at 195 pounds, and Aaron Field won an 11-6 decision at 138 against Sherrard. Jake Hoffman (120), Jacob Schmidt (126) and Cole Grant (132) all by pin against St. Bede.
AFC suffers sweep: The Raiders lost a pair of duals to perennial powers, falling 75-6 to Lena-Winslow and 58-18 to Stillman Valley.
Jake Chapman won twice for AFC, both by pin, at 152 pounds. The Raiders won a pair of forfeits against Stillman Valley.
Byron 69, West Carroll 9: The Thunder got a pin from Jeff Casey in 1:33 at 126 pounds, and an 8-2 decision from Brandon Anderson at 285 in a nonconference loss in Byron.
