Nellis E. Cherry

SHANNON – Nellis E. Cherry, 91, of Shannon, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. He owned and operated Cherry Bros. Feed Mill in Shannon for more than 30 years.

Nellis was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Mount Vernon, the son of Ray and Etta (Hamblen) Cherry. He married Lou Eva Gulley on Oct. 25, 1952, in Tennessee. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2006. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.

Survivors include his daughter, Deb (Brad) Feller of Granville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a nephew; a niece; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Mike) Davis.

He also was preceded in death by a son in infancy, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Polo Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Shannon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice & Home.
