Shooting of cougar sad but necessary

It was very sad to see the cougar shot and killed here in Morrison. Such a beautiful and majestic animal. I wish it could have been tranquilized, but logically, did the IDNR people have the time to corral this big cat in one place to do it?

As much as I love cat species, this is not a cat you want in your area. Although they are deemed to leave people alone, I have read of cases where they did kill runners and bikers in the mountains out West. Not to mention dogs, too.

A no-win situation for the animal, farmer and IDNR people. Still, very heartbreaking.
