Cars line up on Griswold Avenue in Sterling on Tuesday afternoon for the Sterling and Coloma townships' annual Thanksgiving basket distribution day at the Sterling Township garage. Each of the townships contributed $5,000 to the program. People had until earlier this month to apply for a Thanksgiving basket. Mary Bowman, Coloma Township's cemetery manager, and a volunteer for the basket giveaway program, calls it the "Great Turkey Giveaway."
