Teens charged with car burglary

Polo Police say they took items Nov. 19

POLO – Five Whiteside County teens are charged with burglary after, police say, they took items from a car in Polo just after 10 p.m. Nov. 19.

Austin J. Cooper, 18, of Sterling; Nicholas T. Fullington, 19, of Sterling; and Brett E. Brudtenwirth, 17, of Rock Falls were arrested by Sterling Police just hours later, at 12:01 a.m., and taken to Ogle County Jail, where they were released on $10,000 recognizance bonds.

Blake B. Elliot, 18, of Sterling was also arrested and taken to Ogle County Jail. According to the jail, he posted bond – though the amount was unknown.

A 16-year-old boy from Sterling was also arrested, but was released to an adult.

Polo Police Sgt. Shawn Knight said the burglarized car was parked in the 300 block of Congress Avenue in Polo. The owner pointed police toward the teens when reporting the theft, Knight said.
