ROCK FALLS – David “PeeWee” Portner, 76, of Rock Falls, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1937, in Sterling, the son of Carl Irvin and Vida Maude (Scott) Portner. He married Oleria Jean (Flosi) Sosi on March 28, 1969, in Rock Falls. David was employed at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling for 31 years, retiring as a welder. He enjoyed restoring old cars and doing auto body work. David always was willing to lend a helping hand.

Surviving are his wife, Oleria Jean; children, Lizann (Danny) Williams of Rochester, Minn., Lori (Alex) Estrada of Pontiac, Wendy (Gary) Johnston of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Tony (Jill) Sosi of Rock Falls; four “special” children, Kathy (Tom) Lienbaugh of Thomson, JR Walls and Dewayne Williams, both of Rock Falls, and Shelley Williams of Champaign; his sister, Carol (Ron) George of Sterling; his brother, Richard Portner of Rock Falls; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Juanita Lemke, and Sheryl Portner in infancy.

A gathering of friends and family will be from noon to 1:20 p.m., followed by a time of sharing at 1:30 p.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established.
