PADS President Vanessa White (left), Marion Younger, PADS executive director, and Dixon Mayor Jim Burke have proclaimed Nov. 16-24 National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in the city. The proclamation was signed during the Nov. 4 meeting of the Dixon City Council. To raise money for Dixon's homeless shelter and raise awareness about homelessness, residents will sleep outdoors in 1-hour increments from 6 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday. The One Night Without a Home event is the shelter's first fundraiser.
