DIXON – Three sections of the AIDS memorial quilt will be displayed Dec. 2-5 in the east mall at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.

The quilt was started in 1987 by a group in San Francisco, and shows more than 94,000 names of those who had died from AIDS. The entire quilt weighs 54 tons and is more than 1.3 million square feet.

The free exhibit will be open to the public, marking World AIDS Day, which is Dec. 1. The display is sponsored by Sauk’s student activities and government.

Call Ana Salgado, student activities coordinator, at 815-835-6432 for more information.
