Development Corp. site hacked into

STERLING – The website of Greater Sterling Development Corp. has been down for a month because someone hacked into it, the group’s executive director said Wednesday.

On the homepage of www.sterlingdevelopment.org, visitors are notified that the site is “currently undergoing maintenance and an upgrade.” It lists the phone number and email address for the group.

Heather Sotelo, the corporation’s executive director, said it is believed that the site was hacked into by someone overseas. About 20 other economic development groups across the Midwest were affected, she said.

“We’re working on it,” Sotelo said. “We’re not going to let it be down.”

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
