Driver injured in rural Sterling crash

STERLING – One driver was taken to a Rockford hospital with injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Thursday at LeFevre and McCue roads in rural Sterling.

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that an initial investigation showed that about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a westbound vehicle turned off West LeFevre Road and struck a truck that was northbound on McCue Road.

The driver of the truck was not injured, according to the release. The other driver was taken to CGH Medical Center before being airlifted to OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford.

The names of the drivers were being withheld pending notification of family, according to the news release. The accident remains under investigation.

Whiteside County sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Illinois State Police, and Sterling Police and Fire departments.
