ROCK FALLS – A Rock Falls man was in serious condition in a Rockford hospital on Wednesday after being injured in a Tuesday car crash on the west side of Sterling.

Michael Locey, 59, was driving west on West LeFevre Road just before 2 p.m Tuesday when Theodore K. Lamm, 73, driving south on Lynn Boulevard failed to stop at the intersection, hitting Locey’s car and pushing it into a tree at the corner of the intersection, police said.

Sterling Police Officer Jake Reul said that before police arrived, a passerby used a fire extinguisher on Lamm’s car when he saw smoke.

Locey was taken to CGH Medical Center before being transported to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital in Rockford.

Lamm was issued a ticket for failure to yield at a stop sign. Both cars were towed from the scene.
