STERLING – A Rock Falls man was injured in a car crash Tuesday afternoon on the west side of Sterling when a car struck his passenger-side door, pushing his car into a tree at the corner of the intersection, police said.

The other driver, Theodore K. Lamm, 73. was driving south on Lynn Boulevard just before 2 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into 59-year-old Michael W. Locey’s westbound car at the corner of West LeFevre Road, Sterling Police Officer Jake Reul said.

Before police arrived, Reul said, a passerby used a fire extinguisher on Lamm’s car when he saw smoke.

Locey was taken to CGH Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Lamm was issued a ticket for failure to yield at a stop sign. Both cars were towed from the scene.
