COLETA – Gerald Borgmann, 70, of Coleta, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Jerry was born June 7, 1943, in Freeport, to Elmer and Alice (Nanninga) Borgmann. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He worked as an electrician for many years. Jerry married Kathy Merema on Sept. 20, 2013. Jerry was known for being a ham radio enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Suzanne (Shea) McDonnell of Sterling and Wendy Borgmann (Ron Houzenga) of Chadwick; and two grandsons, Ryan McDonnell and Dylan Lamb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer, Alice and Grace Polhill; and one sister, in infancy.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Coleta United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Jungnickel, pastor, officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
