Thank you for area food drive

Published: Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

The Fish Food Pantry says a special thank you to Mike Papoccia, food drive coordinator, and the students from the Sauk Valley area schools for the annual “Stock Up Our Local Food Pantries” day.

We also thank the Sterling-Rock Falls community for the collection of food and paper goods for our food pantries.

We are supported by the community, and this is just one more way that the community helps the Fish Food Pantry. It was a joy to sort the items and fill our shelves to overflowing.

The Fish Board and, most of all, the families we serve say a sincere “thank you” to all who gave of their time and contributed food items.

Note to readers: Beth Mathew is a member of the Fish Food Pantry Board.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
