ROCK FALLS – Valerie J. Wescott, 54, of Rock Falls, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1959, in Sault St. Marie, Mich., the daughter of Richard and Mary (Beaudoin) Rhodes. She was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. She married Jeff N. Wescott on Nov. 23, 1984, in Sterling.

At the time of her death, Val was working at County Market in Sterling. While in high school, she was a very proud member, and served as a sergeant of, the Marching Rockets Band Color Guard. Val was a creative artist, a great cook, an avid gardener, a devoted wife, and a loving and supportive mother.

Surviving are her husband, Jeff; her son, Jeff Wescott of Rock Falls; her daughter, Shaylyn (Joe O’Laughlin) Wescott and her mother, Mary (Greg) Johnson, both of Sterling; her brothers, Ben (Marla) Rhodes and Brad (Samantha Richmond) Rhodes, both of Sterling; and her sister, Jodie Rhodes of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Rhodes; and her brother, Todd Rhodes.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.
