Police seek help in robbery case

STERLING – Police are searching for a female suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred Saturday afternoon at a local eatery.

Sterling Police, at about 3:12 p.m., received a report of a robbery at Don Pedro’s restaurant, 2401 E. Lincolnway.

The suspect, believed to be unarmed, reportedly entered the business, demanded money and threatened violence if the money was not handed over, police said. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the business and was seen walking westbound through the Don Pedro’s parking lot.

The suspect is described by witnesses as a Caucasian female, between 30 and 40 years old, with short “dishwater-blond” hair. She is believed to be 5 feet 1 inch or 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin to medium build, and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and sunglasses, according to a Sterling Police Department news release.

Police were still working on getting a photo from surveillance video Sunday night. They also said that there could be a second suspect in the case.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sterling Police Department’s non-emergency number at 815-632-6640, or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 815-625-7867.
