Marie L. Kessel

DIXON – Marie L. Kessel, 92, of Dixon, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Heritage Square in Dixon.  

Marie was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Amboy, Lee County, the daughter of Curtis E. and Vera L. (Bullington) Conderman. She married Clarence Adam Kessel on Nov. 30, 1939, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2000.

Survivors include one son, Delbert (Sue) Kessel of Amboy; one daughter, Janet (Leonard) Metheny Sr. of Coloma, Mich.; four grandchildren, Deanna (Darrin) Barlow, Christine (David) Schaver, Dara (Martin) Karlov, and Leonard (Kristin) Metheny Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Alta (Glenn) Thompson, Mildred (William T.) Kessel, Fern (Howard) Kitzmiller, and Reta (Bernard) Sullivan; and two brothers, Arlo (Edna) Conderman and Lyle (Dorothy) Conderman.  

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday and the service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dixon, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established to Heritage Square.
