STERLING – Sue L. Eakle of Sterling died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Sue was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Sterling, the daughter of Curtis and Myrtle (Mathew) Bucher. She married Norman C. Eakle on June 19, 1953, in a double ceremony with her sister. Sue was a faithful, lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, serving in many ways, including teaching Sunday school, playing in the bell choir, and serving on the funeral committee.  

She is survived by her husband, Norman; three children, daughter, Rhonda (Michael D.) Miller of Sterling, and sons, Curtis U. Eakle of Chicago and Bradley N. (Wynell) Eakle of Sterling; one grandson, Matthew M. Miller; two stepgrandsons, Colin (Monica) Prince and Conor Prince; one sister, Marlene (Kennard) Green of Oregon; and two nieces, LeAnne (Steve) Olson and Kristen (Mike) Bauer.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son in infancy, Rodney M. Eakle.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Mark Oehlert officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
