DIXON – Paul B. Straw, 68, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Paul was born May 20, 1945, in Dixon, to Robert William and Vora (Mosher) Straw. He married Nelda R. Kant on Aug. 24, 1969, in Amboy. Paul worked for 40 years at Wahl Clipper in Sterling. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sterling. There, he attended Bible studies and men’s fellowship meetings, and was a past deacon. His family always called him “Mr. Fix It,” as he could fix anything. Paul was an avid whistler and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed reading, and most of all, cherished the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda; one daughter, Ann (Bill) Manon of Dixon and their three children, Lilli, Alex, and Riley; two sons, Chad (Jill) Straw of Sterling and their children, Jacob and Daniel, and Nick (Valerie) Straw of Oscarville, Alaska, and their children, Ezra and Zebedee; and three brothers, David (Linda) Straw, George Straw and Ron (Ruth) Straw.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday and a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Courtney Chandler officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Sterling and Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
