Bakery opening soon

DIXON – Folsom’s Bakery is close to opening in Dixon.

The Rock Falls doughnut shop and bakery plans to open next to the Jimmy John’s on North Galena Avenue by Oct. 31.

Rochelle dedicates more railroad track

ROCHELLE – The city of Rochelle recently celebrated an addition of nearly 4 miles of new railroad track on its City of Rochelle railroad, which serves 14 industries within the city.

The inner-city railroad connects those industries to two major lines.

The new track has been built with the support and cooperation of the Illinois Department of Transportation/Bureau of Railroads, the Economic Development Administration, the City of Rochelle, GREDCO, Illinois River Energy, Coated Sand Solutions, Nippon Sharyo and Prologis.

The total project was constructed over a 2-year period at a cost of $8.25 million.

New beauty salon in Rock Falls

ROCK FALLS – Leena’s New You, 1023 First Ave. in Rock Falls, had its grand opening Oct. 18.

The beauty salon offers haircuts for men, women and children, in addition to hair coloring, pedicures, waxing and makeup services.  

Haircuts are $21 for women, $15 for men and $12 for children 12 and younger. The salon’s weekly specials include $10 haircuts for men on Monday, $8 haircuts for children on Saturday, and a free waxing with a paid hair coloring on Wednesday.

The salon is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
