Volleyball: Duchesses roll past Leafs

Hawks, Cardinals, Steamers win league matches

Rachel Gascoigne had 14 assists, seven digs and five aces to lead Dixon to a 25-19, 25-7 road victory over Geneseo on Tuesday night.

Also for the Duchesses (14-18, 5-4 NIB-12 West), Lexy Duncan had eight kills, while Amy Rotella and Haley Fitzsimmons each had six digs and four kills.

Oregon def. Byron 25-17, 25-14: Shannon Cullen spiked 11 kills as the Hawks improved to 9-3 in Big Northern West play with a rivalry win at the Blackhawk Center.

Hailey Long and Alana Leamanczyk added nine kills each, with Long recording seven digs and Leamanczyk three. Delaney Mahoney chipped in 15 assists and seven digs for Oregon (22-7-1).

Erie def. Morrison 25-20, 25-17: Rachel Cobert’s eight kills and six digs helped lead the Cardinals to a Three Rivers North victory in Erie.

Savannah Mettler had five kills and three digs, and Mary Chapman dished 18 assists, spiked three kills and recorded eight digs for Erie. Megan Heun and Delaney Tegeler ripped four kills apiece, with Tegeler stuffing two blocks and Heun adding 12 digs.

Fulton def. Prophetstown 25-23, 25-22: Ann Renkes’ 15 points and eight aces paced the Steamers in a Three Rivers North win at home.

Betsy Leonard had seven kills and two blocks, while Chelsea Lesniewski added four kills and eight digs for Fulton (8-17-3, 7-7). Camerin Huizenga spiked five kills, and Rachael Beiermann chipped in four kills, 11 assists and five points.

Karlie Stafford had 10 kills and five digs for the Prophets (10-17, 4-9), and Claire Milnes spiked six kills. Clare Kramer had eight digs and an ace, and Kate Fringer had 18 assists and six digs.

Riverdale def. Bureau Valley 25-18, 17-25, 25-13: The Storm dropped a Three Rivers North match in Manlius in three sets.

Lindsey Hoffert had six kills, three blocks and three digs for BV, and Valerie Reuter added five kills and four digs. Nicole Bornsheuer had four kills and three blocks, Carlie Bickett finished with four kills and five blocks, and Sydney Lebahn chipped in 20 assists, five digs and two aces.

Dakota def. Eastland 25-18, 25-21: The Cougars couldn’t upset the league-leading Indians in Lanark.

Peyton Achs had five kills, and Ashley Beyers added seven assists and an ace for Eastland (18-11, 6-6 NUIC West).
