STERLING – Sterling police are looking for two men whom they believe are responsible in two September retail thefts.
Sterling Detective Mike Henry said that on Sept. 21, two men were seen taking three desktop computers and a sound bar from Walmart, 4115 E. Lincolnway, worth a little more than $2,000. The men were also seen leaving Kohl’s, 3220 E. Lynn Blvd., with a fully loaded shopping cart, Henry said.
Police say that the surveillance footage shows the two men leaving both Walmart and Kohl’s in an older-model, gray pickup truck.
One of the men was wearing a tan coat and a Chicago White Sox baseball cap with a sticker on the bill; he is of medium height and build. The second man is heavyset and was wearing tan pants, and a New York Yankees jacket in one surveillance tape, and a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt in another.
Henry said that detectives waited nearly a month for surveillance footage from both stores.
If anything is known about the subjects, people are encouraged to contact Sterling Police at 815-632-6640 or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867, or by email at email@example.com.
