STERLING – Andy Thornton, CEO of Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA, received the Illinois Chief Club Award at the Illinois State Alliance of YMCAs annual meeting Oct. 2 in Bloomington.

The award honors a YMCA CEO who exemplifies the YMCA’s values and mission.  

Thornton has been CEO for more than 3 years. He has restructured the staff, increased growth in program revenue and participation, and spear-headed multiple facility improvements.

He also led the organization in annual support campaigns, raising more than $400,000 during his tenure, the most ever raised.
