John T. Tiffany

TALLADEGA, Ala. – John Thomas Tiffany, Ph.D., 66, of Talladega, formerly of Dixon, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Dixon, the son of Orville and Edna (Mercer) Tiffany. He was a 1964 graduate of Dixon High School. He was employed at Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind from 1981 to 2001, and as superintendent of the New York School for the Deaf from 2000 to 2010. John was a member of the board of directors of the Conference of Educational Administrators, and was active in many state and professional associations.

He is survived by his wife, Selena Freeman Tiffany; his brother, Guy (Sally) TIffany of Naples, Fla.; his children, Tiffany T. (Troy) Russell of Overland Park, Kan., Tracey L. (Steve) Loe of Lenexa, Kan., Justin Wade Tiffany of Phoenix, and Jane Ann Freeman of Talladega; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There are no services. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega is handling arrangements.
