Pantry thanks supporters of food drive

Published: Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

First Christian Church of Rock Falls Food Pantry would like to say thank you to Mike Papoccia, the Newman High School staff, and the area high school students for the “Stock Up Your Local Food Pantries” food drive on Oct. 2. This was a well-organized and well-run food drive. We also would like to thank all those in our community who donated.

We were one of the nine pantries that benefited from this food drive.

The donations came at a time when our shelves were bare, so it was greatly appreciated. This was a job well done by everyone involved. Young people sometimes do not get recognized for the good things they do to reach out and share God’s love.

Our food pantry is one of two in Rock Falls, and despite being one of the smallest pantries, we serve a large number of people. In July alone, we served 179 families with 540 members.

As you can see, this is a much-needed ministry that serves our community. We function entirely on donations and have been fortunate to be able to continue serving our community.

A sincere thank you to everyone involved in the “Stock Up Your Local Food Pantries” Food Drive.
