Frost is on the way in Illinois

Published: Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

CHICAGO (AP) – It may be time to break out the hat and gloves.

The National Weather Service has issued frost advisories and freeze warnings early today for most of northern and central Illinois. Weather officials say it is a good time to cover more sensitive plants.

It will be the first widespread freeze of the season, and dozens of counties are expected to see temperatures drop.

Weather officials say temperatures will dip down to the upper 20s and lower 30s.
