Host families needed for holiday

The Rock River Valley International Fellowship will bring international students from Chicago area universities to the area during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 

The students will stay with host families from Dixon, Rock Falls, Sterling, and surrounding areas. They range in age from 19 to 50 and may include couples and families.

Before the students’ arrival, there will be an orientation meeting for host families at 4 p.m. Nov. 24 at Sauk Valley Community College, 173, state Route 2, Dixon.

The students will arrive at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in Dixon, and will leave at 2 p.m. Dec. 1, also from Dixon. The schedule includes Thanksgiving Day with family and sightseeing on Friday. Arrangements can be made for hosts who work Friday. 

There will be an international buffet and candle-lighting ceremony at the Sauk Valley Community Church, 498 state Route 2, in Dixon. Along with the international students from Chicago and their host families, several international students from local high schools and Sauk Valley Community College will be welcome to attend.
