Terry White stole the show in Port Byron on Friday night, running for five touchdowns as the Riverdale Rams upset the Bureau Valley Storm 48-36 for their first win of the season.

The Storm (3-5, 2-3 Three Rivers North), who saw their playoff hopes dashed with the loss, led 14-8 after a pair of Tommy Johnston touchdown runs in the first quarter.

But White had the answer for the Rams (1-7, 1-4), He scored three second-quarter TDs, then after Johnston scored again to get BV within 26-20 by halftime, White scampered in from 48 yards to push the margin back to 34-20.

Parker Neuhalfen then got into the act for the Storm, scoring on runs of 64 and 55 yards. But the Storm missed a PAT kick and a PAT run, and trailed the Rams 34-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

After Nate Rocker’s second TD of the night stretched Riverdale’s lead to 40-32, Neuhalfen hit Blake Balensiefen on a 27-yard scoring strike. But the PAT run failed again, and the Storm still trailed by two with 6:02 to play.

White’s fifth TD run of the night, this one from 17 yards, iced the Riverdale victory with 1:28 to play.

Bureau Valley will miss the playoffs for the third consecutive season after being a state power during the last decade.
