ROCKFORD (AP) — A Rockford woman who's accused of stabbing her 8-year-old son to death is asking for another judge to preside over her case.
The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/1hZp54i ) a lawyer for 39-year-old Jody Kossow made the request during a brief court appearance Thursday.
Kossow's public defender has already requested to substitute out both Judge Rosemary Collins and Chief Judge Joseph McGraw before Thursday's request to reassign the case from Judge Fernando Engelsma.
Kossow is charged with first-degree murder for the death of the third-grader, whose body was found Sept. 10 in the driveway of his home.
Autopsy results show Thomas Kossow died from multiple stab wounds.
Jody Kossow is set to appear in court Friday to find out which Winnebago County judge will preside over the case.
