Judge sends TV pitchman to jail

CHICAGO (AP) – A federal judge has ordered television pitchman Kevin Trudeau back to jail until he comes clean about his alleged hidden millions.

U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman on Wednesday told Trudeau to turn himself in to U.S. Marshals on Tuesday. It allows Trudeau to attend a fundraising dinner for his legal defense in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

In issuing the ruling against the red-faced Trudeau, Gettleman said he didn’t know how much money the pitchman was hiding overseas, but he said does know he hasn’t “had the truth from him.”

Trudeau insists he’s penniless and can’t pay fines stemming from allegedly false claims made in his weight-loss book.

To counter Trudeau’s claim he’s destitute, Federal Trade Commission lawyers in September presented evidence he’s spent $920 on cigars and $359 on two haircuts.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
