Packers’ Cobb to miss up to 8 weeks

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb reportedly will miss 6 to 8 weeks after suffering a broken fibula during Sunday’s victory at Baltimore.

The Bears visit the Packers on Nov. 4 and host their NFC North rival in the Dec. 29 season finale.

Cobb was injured in Sunday’s 19-17 win at Baltimore. He took a helmet to his right knee from Ravens safety Matt Elam at the end of a 15-yard catch in the final minute of the first half.

Cubs interview Padres bench coach Renteria

Cubs officials traveled Monday to California to interview San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria for their vacant managerial position.

Renteria, 51, recently underwent hip surgery, so team officials flew from Arizona, where they were evaluating players in the Instructional League and Arizona Fall League, to talk to Renteria.

Renteria has served as the bench coach for Padres manager Bud Black for the past two seasons. Renteria has received strong reviews for his organizational and teaching skills from those who have worked with him in the Marlins’ and Padres’ organizations.

Also, a source familiar with the Cubs’ search said that Tampa Bay bench coach and former Cubs player Dave Martinez will be interviewed later this week. Martinez, 49, played for the Cubs from 1986 through midway through the 1988 season and briefly in 2000.

Clark to Pujols: Take a lie detector test

Jack Clark, who is being sued for defamation for accusing Angels slugger and former Cardinals star Albert Pujols of using steroids, sent a letter Monday to Pujols’ attorneys challenging him to take a lie-detector test and offering to do the same.

Pujols filed suit Oct. 4 after Clark, also a former Cardinals star, said during a radio show that he knew for a fact that Pujols “was a juicer.”

Cubs’ season ticket price to hold steady

In the wake of their 96-loss season, the Chicago Cubs will inform their daily season-ticket holders that they will not see an increase on their 2014 season-ticket invoice.

Combo Plan season-ticket holders, however, could experience an increase in their invoice because of the increase in night games included in their plan in 2014.

Season-ticket holders will start receiving their invoices Monday, along with a letter detailing the pricing and changes.
