OHIO – William L. Anderson, 87, of Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.  

Bill was born May 6, 1926, in Princeton, the son of Howard and Lucille (Ioder) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Catherine Clark on July 2, 1944, at Ohio United Methodist Church. He farmed in the Ohio area during his lifetime. He was an avid antiquer. His farm and family were his pride and joy.

Bill was a lifelong member of Ohio United Methodist Church, and most recently a member of Red Oak United Methodist Church in Walnut. He was on the Ohio High School Board for 25 years. He was a member of the Bureau County Sports Hall of Fame and Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.  

He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kay” Anderson; one daughter, Karen (Dave) Kuebel of Ohio; one son, William J. Anderson of Naperville; one grandson, Lance (Kerry) Harris of Arlington Heights; one granddaughter, Jody (Eric) Cooper of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brett, and Tyler Harris and Makenzie and Jacey Cooper; three brothers, Howard (Carolyn) Anderson of Princeton, Robert (Rita) Anderson of Ohio, and Richard (Marie) Anderson of Princeton; two sisters, Sue (Joe) Etheridge of Glendale Heights and Sally (Randy) Farrell of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Helen Clark of Sublette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Janet Joy Anderson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judy Giese, pastor of Red Oak Methodist Church, and Rev. Katie Voigt officiating.  

A memorial has been established to Red Oak Methodist Church and Ohio Fire Department.
