MOUNT MORRIS – Pinecrest Community is sponsoring a week of Pumpkin Palooza to celebrate Halloween and raise money for Pinecrest’s Good Samaritan fund.

Events kick off with a 5K run/1-mile walk at 9 a.m. Oct. 26 from the Pinecrest Grove Community Center, 500 Evergreen Lane.

All are welcome to participate. Runners may wear safe and family-friendly costumes, which will be judged for prizes.

The cost is $25 per person, $35 for couples, and $15 for those younger than 18 and older than  55.

Participants receive a pumpkin, which may be carved and entered into the center’s free Pumpkin Palooza Carving Contest. The carving contest is open to the public.

Those not walking or running must provide their own pumpkin. Winning jack-o-lanterns will be on display through Halloween.

Judging will be Oct. 30 at the community center.

A bowling night will be Nov. 9. Pinecrest employees and area residents will gather with members of the regional churches of the Brethren for a night of bowling at Town and Country Lanes, 4031 W. Mudcreek Road.

The cost is $10 per person with a pledge sheet, or $20 per person without pledges.

Registration includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, and one pizza per team. The registration deadline is Nov. 1.

The Good Samaritan Fund was established to help residents who have exhausted their personal funds.
