MORRISON – Myra E. Ottens, 85, of Morrison, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at her home. She taught first through eighth grades in a one-room school in Erie, and was employed for several years in the Whiteside County Circuit Clerk’s office.

Myra was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Mount Carroll, the daughter of Alvin and Eva (Durham) Schaut. She married Robert W. Ottens on April 26, 1952, in Mount Carroll. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2012. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Ottens of Morrison and Sandy (Tim) Bronn of Cambridge, Wis.; two sons, Sam (Bonny) Ottens of Shoreline, Wash., and Scott (Malia) Ottens of LaGrange; three grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret (Bud) Rose of Peoria.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sarah Ottens; and two brothers, Tom and Edward Schaut.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday and the funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with Rich Criss, ministry coordinator at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

A memorial has been established to Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison.
