Maizie L. Durham

WALNUT – Maizie L. Durham, 84, of Walnut, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Maizie was born Jan. 6, 1929, in New Bedford, the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Potts) Yonk. She was united in marriage to Robert Durham on Feb. 28, 1948, at the Walnut Christian Church parsonage. Maizie was a member of Walnut United Methodist Church and Green River Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Durham of Walnut; one daughter, Sandra Morgan of Sterling; one son, Robert A. (Susan) Durham of Rock Falls; six grandchildren Darius Morgan, Tarra Deppen, Melissa Rippy, Joni Durham, Cari Johnson, and Robert M. Durham; six great-grandchildren, Logan and Cade Rippy, Emma Deppen, Bryce Campos, and Brenley and Jeremiah Johnson; two sisters, Lavonne Rasmussen of Oregon and Melva Gibson of Walnut; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister Darlene Hartz.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today and the funeral at 11 a.m. today at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with the Rev. Mark Harkness, pastor of Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.  

A memorial has been established to Walnut United Methodist Church.
