Motorcyclist who died in crash had revoked license

STERLING – A Sterling man who died Wednesday after a motorcycle crash the previous day was driving with a revoked license, police confirmed Thursday.

Brandon M. Kiro, 21, was riding east in the 700 block of East Lynn Boulevard shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle, skidding across the road before coming to a stop in the westbound lanes, Sterling police said. 

State police are investigating the crash to determine its cause, including whether Kiro was intoxicated, Sgt. Bob Allen said. 

Last month, Kiro was charged with DUI. He was convicted of DUI in 2011.

On Sept. 3, he was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Six days before his death, he was cited on a charge of driving with a revoked license. 

After the crash, Kiro was taken to CGH Medical Center and then transferred to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where he died at 11:41 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.
