MORRISON – Thomas G. “Smoothie” Smith, 61, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Coventry Living Center in Sterling. He worked for Steve Wilkens Painting.

Tom was born Feb. 25, 1952, in Morrison, the son of Gene M. and Janet F. (Janke) Smith. He married Cindy L. Ostema on March 9, 1984, in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife of Morrison; two sons, Marshall (Erin Sanders) Smith and Taylor Smith, both of Morrison; one sister, Nancy (Steven) Merrill of Laurel, Md.; one brother, David Smith of Marshalltown, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and the funeral at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with the Rev. Michael Selburg, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, officiating. The family requests that people dress casually for the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
