Shutdowns, Obamacare wreak havoc

Published: Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

National parks are shut down, national lands (hunting, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, etc.) shut down, the Everglades shut down, national monuments shut down. The DNR must have been instructed to cause as much pain as possible to citizens and businesses in these areas.

Fishing guides, hunting guides, and business entities are deprived of making a living because of those unnecessary actions by our tyrannical administration. They want us to feel the pain, even if it destroys our livelihood, creating hardship on millions of families.

Yet, our privileged, furloughed government workers will get all their back pay when they get back to work. Will the government do the same for businesses deprived of earning their living?

What about people who have booked rafting trips through the Grand Canyon? Thirteen of those groups are camped out in the desert, near the put-in at Lees Ferry. There are 61 trips pending.

Those people wait years to get their trips approved. Fishing guides, services, motels, restaurants, and their employees, all harmed by the shutdown at Lake Powell, Lees Ferry, and the Grand Canyon.

All this because Republicans want to curtail the reckless, unsustainable spending by the Democrats and the Obama administration.

Why should politicians, government workers, unions, etc., be exempted from Obamacare (also known as the “Unaffordable” Health Care Act )? The employer mandate has been delayed until 2015, but not for the rest of us.

Obamacare isn’t affordable for the public, nor for our government. Despite what the Supremes say, government takeover of our health care system is unconstitutional; another example of left-wing encroachment on our freedoms.

Democrats accuse Republicans of not caring for the people and our nation. But, the opposite is true. Republicans are not the ones attacking our natural rights, freedoms,  sovereignty, and all things that made our country great.

Socialism isn’t the answer. It’s failed in every country that has tried it.
