Everett F. ‘Andy’ Anderson

STERLING – Everett F. “Andy” Anderson, 89, of Sterling, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Normandy, the son of Walter and Betty (Peterson) Anderson. He married Barbara G. Pollock on April 2, 1948, in Sterling. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the Pacific Theater. Andy owned and operated several former service stations in Sterling, including DX, Phillips 66 and FINA, for a total of 27 years. He then was employed by National Manufacturing for 13 years, retiring in 1989. He was a 50-year member of Sterling American Legion Post 296, and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Barb; six children, Karen (Jim) Port of Sterling, Brad (JoAnn) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., Connie Stewart of Sterling, Kevin (Lori) Anderson of Grand Detour, and Gary Anderson (Shelley Lifka) and Cary (Wendy) Anderson, both of Sterling; one daughter-in-law, Karla Anderson of Sterling; four sisters, Betty Pollock, Dorothy Brown, Hazel Brown, and Lola (Bill) Glafka; one brother, Marvin (Bev) Anderson; 15 grandchildren, Nicole Adams, Keelie Pugliese, Brad Anderson, Dustin Stone, Derek Port, Anthony Anderson, Brandon Stone, Matt Stewart, Ashley Allen, Jake Anderson, Jess Peterson, Jasmine Anderson, Nate Anderson, Ariel Anderson, and Elijah Anderson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Anderson; two sisters, Helen Miller and Genevieve Wagner; one brother, Leroy Anderson; two brothers in infancy; and one grandchild, Athena Kolodzik.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Gary DeKoekkoek officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
