Erie armed robbery is ‘crime of the month’

Authorities seek leads in holdup

ERIE – An armed robbery in Erie on Oct. 2 was named the Whiteside County Crime Stoppers’ crime of the month, according to a news release.

Erie Police and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department say a man entered the Hill & Dell 66 Convenience Store, 1327 12th St., about 7:30 a.m. and flashed a dark-colored semiautomatic pistol before demanding money and fleeing on foot.

The man is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall and of a thick build. At the time of the robbery, police say, he was wearing a gray Aeropostale zip-up jacket and black ski mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department at 815-772-4033, or Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867. Callers may receive a reward of up to $1,000.
