FREEPORT Veterans event planned for Saturday

FREEPORT – The Veterans Assistance Commission of Stephenson County will have its Stand Down and Welcome Home program from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Read Park Pavilion, 1200 Park Lane Drive.

Veterans and their families from across northwestern Illinois can attend. An opening ceremony will take place at noon in the pavilion parking lot. A kids zone will be open throughout the afternoon. Help will be provided to homeless veterans and veterans in need. Available will be Veterans Affairs medical and mental health counseling, employment and vocational rehabilitation counseling, help with VA and Society Security benefits claims, chiropractic services, clothing, and haircuts.
