STERLING – A benefit to help a Sterling woman with medical costs after a heart attack and multiple strokes will be at noon Sunday at the Wagon Wheel, 1711 W. Fourth St.

Bev Miller, who is in her early 60s, suffered the heart attack and strokes in April. She was treated at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, then at Genesis Health System in the Quad Cities.

Her best friend, Lori Campos, said Miller was a bartender and waitress at the Wagon Wheel for years, but she no longer can work. Miller is staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Joe Cavazos, and has grandchildren. She requires around-the-clock care.

There will be no cost to attend the benefit. A pulled pork meal, with chips and beans, will cost $5, while a kids meal with a hot dog, chips, and cookie will be $3. A live auction will take place, featuring a 4-pack of tickets to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, gift baskets, and hotel stays. A raffle winner will be drawn, with tickets for $1 each or $5 for six.

A disc jockey will perform, as will several live bands, among them KillBillies. A cakewalk, bake sale, and face-painting also will take place. Call the Wagon Wheel at 815-625-6680 for more information.
