Police say local man choked, hit boy

DIXON – A Dixon man was in jail Sunday after police say he choked and repeatedly hit a 6-year-old boy in the face.

After being contacted by the Department of Children and Family Services, Dixon Police arrested Kenneth J. Sims, 23, at about noon Friday in the 1500 block of West First Street.

He is charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, and domestic battery.

Sims is in Lee County Jail on $100,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m.
