Boys golf: Mustangs runners-up at home meet

Oregon soccer wins; Sterling loses

The Morrison Mustangs shot a 240 to finish behind only Forreston (238) in the Ryder Cup-style Lorrin Fasset Invite on Saturday at Prairie Ridge Golf Course.

Morrison was led by the twosome of Colton and Brock Smith, who took third with a 6-over-par 78. Play consisted of six holes of best ball, six holes of alternate shot, and six holes of scramble.

Fulton tied Stockton for fourth with a 248. Lucas Wiebenga and Blaine Simmons led the way with an 82.

Amboy was sixth with a 252, led by Griffin Kozeal and Logan Thake (81). Polo took seventh with 266, as Tristin Woodin and Brix Clayton (87) paced the Marcos.

West Carroll was ninth (270) and Newman rounded out the top 10 (275). Cameron Ehlers and Hayley Guilinger led the Thunder (88), while Todd Nelson and Shawn Rosengren paced the Comets (89).

Prophetstown finished 11th (289), as Grant and Jackson Ames tied for fourth (80).

Morrison’s JV team finished 12th (303). Jaden Workman and Andrew Rinker shot 98.

Boys soccer

Moline 6, Sterling 1: Carlos Gallardo scored the lone goal for the Warriors at Roscoe Eades Stadium.

Oregon 4, Earlville 0: Jarrett Reynolds scored twice in a nonconference match in Oregon.

Juan Ocampo and Zak Zalzalah added goals for the Hawks (8-6-2), who got assists from Konner Wilson, Harry Baldwin and Ryan Bennett, as well as two saves from Jordan Gilmour in goal.
