POLO Survival show winner to speak to retired teachers

POLO – Lucky Larson of Stillman Valley, one of the winners of the NBC survival competition show, “Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls,” will speak Oct. 9 to the Ogle-Lee Retired Teachers Association.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. at La Branche, 610 S. Division Ave. Lunch will be served at noon, with the program and a meeting after lunch. Larson won “Get Out Alive” with his daughter, Andrea “Louie” Larson Musselman.

Registration is required, and there will be a cost. Call Jacquie Eckhardt at 815-561-9401 to sign up or for more information.

New officers will be elected at the meeting. Candidates are Jean Hoff of Oregon and Jean Whipple of Byron, co-presidents; Ferol Empen of Byron, vice president; Elke Grennan of Rochelle, secretary; Linda Kenney of Rochelle, treasurer. Grennan currently serves as secretary, and Kenney is the treasurer.

Any retired teacher in Ogle and Lee counties can become a member of the association. Call Dick Wood at 815-738-2824 to join.
