STERLING – Ida Mae Brown, 91, of Sterling, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Earlville, the daughter of Roy V. and Marjorie (Gleason) Snelling. She married Lowell Rhodes. She later married John Earl Brown on July 5, 1950. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1967.  

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Scovel of Sterling; three sons, Earl (Rose) Rhodes of Lyndon and Moe (Mary) Rhodes and Johnnie Brown, both of Sterling; two sisters, Mabel McNeilly of St. Joseph, Mo., and Edna Hartman of Earlville; special friend, Crystal Anspach; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Charles; four brothers; and two sisters.

There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, with the Rev. Jon Sedgwick, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Rock Falls, officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
