OGALALLA, Neb. – Edward Voda, 82, of Ogallala, passed away Monday, Sept, 23, 2013, at Green Acres Care Center in Amboy. He worked for an electronics component company, retiring in 1998.
Edward was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Wauneta, Neb., the son of Adolf and Bertha (Tepley) Voda. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He married Rosemary Krapfl on May 20, 1953, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. She preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ogalalla.
Survivors include his children, Mark Voda of Ogallala, Deb (Paul) Mellen of Dixon, and Doug (Kathy) Voda of Sanford, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Ellen; three sisters, Marcela, Cecilia, and Fran; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogalalla, Neb. A rosary and wake service will be at 9 a.m. Monday and the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ogalalla, with the Rev. Bryan Ernest, celebrant, officiating. Interment, with military honors accorded by Keith County Veterans Organization, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb.
