Magdalena O. Segura

ROCK FALLS – Magdalena O. Segura, 84, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. She worked at the former Roxite Co. in Dixon for 12 years.

Magdalena was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Odorico and Maria (Lopez) Olivas. She married Alejandro Chavira on June 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1961. She married Julian Segura on Jan. 13, 1968. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her sons, Mario (Mary Ann) Chavira of Rock Falls and Carlos Chavira of Sterling; her daughter, Nora (Miguel) Rodriguez of Rock Falls; her sister, Maria Delaluz Cervantez of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Gloria Gomez.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Adalberto Sanchez, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

Memorials have been established to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
